Trade-in your old mobile for a new smart phone

Don't stuff your old mobile into a drawer - trade it in for a new one. It's a great way to do the green thing because all traded-in mobiles are recycled.

You can trade-in most mobiles - try out the tool to the right. Even if your mobile isn't in full working order, we may still be able to buy it from you for a reduced amount. And if your mobile isn't one we accept, you can still leave it with us to be disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.

If you trade-in your mobile online, you can get a direct deposit into your bank account or receive payment via Paypal. If you trade-in your mobile at one of our stores you will get an in-store voucher or credit applied to your account.

How to trade-in your old mobile




What you need to know

  • You can trade-in any mobile phone, from any network, as long as it's on our data base. If your used mobile phone is not listed, the chances are we no longer buy that model, however we do have recycling boxes in store if you wish to recycle your phone instead.
  • You can trade-in up to 3 mobile phones to a maximum value of $3500. We can only give one credit voucher or make one payment per transaction. We are also unable to offer multiple payment methods for one transaction.
  • Only your mobile phone can be traded-in. However, we can recycle any accessories or chargers you may want to dispose of.
  • You are responsible for removing all information and content from the mobile phone you trade-in.
  • Your credit voucher can only be redeemed through the same channel you completed your trade-in transaction. If you traded-in your mobile online - your voucher can only be redeemed through the online shop and will not be accepted in store.
  • All vouchers issued in a store are valid for 12 months from the date of issue. If you change your mind your mobile can not be retrieved once it has been processed and collected from the stores or if you have already posted to us.
  • If you trade-in your mobile at one of our participating stores you’ll get an in-store credit voucher to the value of your mobile. If you trade-in your mobile online, you can get an online credit voucher. Or, if you’ve previous made a purchase from the online shop, you can be paid by cheque or via Paypal.


Terms & Conditions

  • You must be 18 years of age or older to trade in a mobile phone.
  • The mobile phone must belong to you, and you have the right to trade it in to Vodafone, with no debts owing or any other party having an interest in it. Vodafone will not accept mobile phones for trade in which we determine to be a lost, blocked, stolen or fake, and can reclaim any trade in value where this arises.
  • You can trade in any mobile phone, from any network, as long as it's on our data base. If your used mobile phone is not listed, it cannot be traded in. However, we do have recycling boxes in store if you wish to recycle your phone, accessories or chargers instead.
  • Your mobile phone cannot be returned to you once it has been processed and collected from a Vodafone store, or if you have already posted it to us.
  • You must clear all personal information and content from the mobile phone and any SIM in the phone. Any SIM card, data and/or personal information contained on the mobile phone cannot be returned.
  • Vodafone accepts no responsibility in relation to the security, protection, confidentiality or use of any personal information which is stored on the mobile phone and/or SIM card that you have traded in.
  • The personal information that you have provided on the receipt will be disclosed to Vodafone’s contractors in order to process the trade in transaction.
  • Vodafone’s Privacy Policy applies to all trade in transactions.
  • You can trade in your mobile phone either through our website or in one of our retail stores. When you trade in your mobile phone through a retail store, you will receive a retail trade in voucher or credit applied to your bill (at Vodafone’s sole discretion), to the value of your trade in. Trade-ins through our website will receive online trade in vouchers, or if you’ve previously made a purchase from the online shop, you can be paid by cheque or via Paypal.
  • Trade in vouchers are valid for only 12 months from purchase, and may be redeemed only against handsets and accessories. Retail vouchers may only be redeemed at Vodafone retail stores. Online vouchers may only be redeemed online. Vouchers are not transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash. No change will be given when vouchers are redeemed.
  • You can trade-in up to 3 mobile phones to a maximum value of $3500 per transaction. We can only give one trade-in voucher or make one payment per transaction. We are also unable to offer multiple payment methods for one transaction.
  • Eligibility for a trade in transaction is at all times at the sole discretion of Vodafone.
  • Vodafone reserves the right to inform the relevant authorities if there is any suspicion that there is a deliberate attempt to commit fraud.
